Buea, January 7, 2026 – In response to the ongoing socio-political crisis affecting communities in the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon, Caritas Buea, through the Care of the Disabled and Marginalized (CODAM) Department, extended humanitarian support to Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) during a distribution event held at the Bishop Pius Awa Memorial Pastoral Center, Molyko – Buea.

The activity, carried out under Project Number D2030113010, was coordinated by Mrs. Kenne Rosine Michaelle, CODAM Coordinator, alongside Mrs. Ali Onorines, Livelihood Officer. The exercise provided practical assistance aimed at improving the living conditions, dignity, and wellbeing of affected children.

A total of 45 OVCs received bedding assistance, which included:

  • mattresses

  • bedsheets

  • mats

To help alleviate food insecurity among the children and their households, 22 beneficiaries received food assistance packages made up of:

  • rice

  • groundnuts

  • beans

  • garri

  • salt

  • sachets of tomatoes

In addition, 39 hygiene kits were distributed, containing:

  • bathing and drinking buckets

  • bars of soap

  • sanitary pads

  • toilet paper

  • toothbrushes and toothpaste

  • bathing sponges

Speaking during the event, the CODAM team emphasized that this support aims to restore hope, promote hygiene, and enhance the dignity of vulnerable children whose lives have been deeply affected by the crisis. The gesture forms part of ongoing efforts by Caritas Buea to promote integral human development, especially among those most affected by displacement, poverty, and insecurity.
