Caritas of the Diocese of Buea expresses deep sorrow and outrage over the tragic death of Divine Mbarga, an 11-year-old child whose life was cruelly taken following a horrific act of sexual violence allegedly committed by a trusted adult.

This heartbreaking incident reminds us that violence against children continues to threaten the safety and dignity of the most vulnerable in our communities. Every child deserves protection, love, and a safe environment to grow, learn, and flourish. Acts of abuse and exploitation are grave crimes that must never be tolerated.

We strongly condemn all forms of sexual violence against children and call on the competent authorities to ensure that perpetrators of such acts are found and brought to justice without delay. We also urge parents, guardians, communities, and institutions to remain vigilant and to work together to protect children from abuse.

Let us raise our voices for Divine and for every child whose innocence is threatened.
